just before 4:30 near la vista drive and franconia road. tracee wilkins joins us from alexandria. good morning. >> reporter: good morning, barbara. investigators wrapped up their investigation here in the immediate neighborhood. they have not wrapped up their search for the suspects. fairfax county police are going door to door warning neighbors and searching for clues after a 23-year-old woman was sexually assaulted at a neighborhood bus stop. >> we believe this attack was random. a woman standing at the bus stop waiting for the bus. someone approached her from behind and began to assault her. >> reporter: it happened just before 4:30 this morning on franconia road, a major commuter route. a man jogging by found the woman. police were there within minutes. a quiet suburban area. >> it's very unusual for this area, this neighborhood. we have been here for 40 years and never had a problem. >> reporter: the victim is expected to be okay and is recovering at fairfax hospital. for people who live in this community, the hope is that the suspect is caught quickly. >> we have good police patr

. >> it was açó busy day. now to a developing story this evening from southeast washingto police tell us an armored truck guard was shot in the eye at a popeye's on malcolm x boulevard. the armor truck driver drove the guard to a local hospital before police arrived at the scene. no word yet on the grd's condition. no arrests have been made. >>> a suicide investigation led to a bomb scare at an apartment complex overnight. the police went to the building in the 400 block of sunnybrook terrace after the suicide was reported and that's when they found three pipe bombs. police ended up detonating the bombs in a field. the apartment complex had to be evacuated during the ordeal. it is not clear w made those bombs. >>> well, it is election-eve in the district and tonight mayor adrian fuente wrapped upthe last full day of campaigning. trying to sway any last of-minute undecided and urging people to get out the vote. tomherwood joins us. >> reporter: fenty is trailing gray in every poll. >> four more years! >> reporter: they're for fenty. >> no more yes! >>eporter: they're for gray. and then th

a chain of events. >> for us here, we are surprised that would happen. yeah. >> reporter: close by your house? >> yeah. very close. >> reporter: the s.w.a.t. team deployed. some highway exits shut down. nearby schools placed on code blue, a systematic search begins. that ex-boyfriend, that suspect identified as 32-year-old joshua prince, a hospital worker, armed and dangerous. according to court documents september 1st, the victim broke up with joshua prince. september 3rd the victim goes out with another friend and returns to her apartment. the victim claims prince was watching her and her friend. the victim says that night prince banged on her door for 30 minutes. the victim says she opened the door and told prince it's over. later that night the victim says her car and her friend's cara n vandalized. september 4th the victim seeks a protective order against prince saying she is in fear for her safety. then this morning in that parking garage, the shooting incident. >> he believed that she may have started seeing someone else and he resides in this apartment complex as well as she re

making for a messy commute. some residents used sandbags, buckets and whatever they could get their hands on to deal with the water leaking into their homes. good ggy thursday afternoon for you all. >> folks, this is just round one of the flooding. round two is en route. >> veronica johnson is here with more on rain totals so far. >> the forecast is working out realy well just as we anticipated yesterday. we're getting a little of the break, at least some of us right now, from the moderate and heavy rains we had earlier. look at that sky. that's the break without anything falling in the immediate d.c. area right now. all through the are we remain under a flash flood watch. in the red, those are the flood warnings to the west of us and north. loudon county,nne arundel county and points up to the north. that is until 6:15. meanwhile, a tornado watch because there's still a tremendous amount of spin in the atmosphere. tornado goes from areas of baltimore county down through prince georges county, charles county, st. mary's and calert again. those folks have quite a few tornado warnings early

more earlier today. >> reporter: montgomery county police are searching for an armed gunman and using everything from police cars to helicopters to armed vehicles. they are receiving assistance from state police. a woman who lives at the avalon apartments in bethesda tells news 4 around 7:20 this morning a woman ran door to door screaming for help saying someone was trying to shoot her. soon after police surrounded the avalon apartments. there were reports of at least one shot fired. montgomery county police say they know who their suspect is. their search to get him into custody led to closing of streets. they closed nearby exits to 270 and locked down walter johnson high school. people in live at the avalon were told to stay in their apartments and those who are out of their apartments were not let back in. >> they are not letting me go back in. i just want to go to work. >> tracee wilkins, news 4. >> joshua prince has been found. price, rather, found and arrested in pennsylvania. we have more on this breaking news story on a live report on news 4 at 5:00. >>> it is back to normal a

"news4 today" derrick ward jones us from. ronald reagan washington national airport with how this drill wl play out and if it's affecting travel. >> reporter: you know, a lot of planning went into this event today, but already there's smoke and flames. every indication it will dafbt. that'swhat the planners wanted. now i want to step out of the way and get a look. about 100 vmts will take part. the scenario that will unfold is a plane crash on approach to ronald reagan washington national airport. it hits cars and shuttle bus on the ground. the are injuries and some folks wind up in thepotomac. this nightmare scenario is all about being prepared should the unthinkable me about. this is a mandatory drill we do it every three years. it involves a full scale response. everybody playing roles from the accident viims to the families that would come to see them to the incidents responders themselves both on and off airport. >> what happens after the drill? what do you do? do you go over how thing went? what changes need to be made? >> at that lot of planning goes into this

us from annandale, virginia. that's where this morning's floods took a dangerous turn. >> reporter: here in northern have virginia as we s throughout the rest of the area a big mess with plenty of roadslosed throughout the area. and here on this road another example why you should not try your hand at high water. it was a wet, long, miserable morning commute that started for a lot of drivers on thinner loop of the beltway after a tractor-trailer jackknifed. it happened just before 5:00 a.m. fuel poured from the truck causing major backups throughout theorning commute. meanile, in annaale and wood burn road a vdot worker says a husband and wife drove through the roadblock and tried to t through this standing water but didn't make it. they both had to be rescued. the water stood as high as two feet on the far side and was about at a foot and a half on e sides t driver tried to go through. >> and i work right off wood burn road so i'm worried about what sections are cut off right now. so i haven't been down there. i'm wondering what it's like. >> reporter: as crews surveyed flood-pron
